Uganda Launches Feed In Tariff

The Ugandan government has been collaborating with a host of international groups and governments to develop an innovative renewable energy development financing program the Global Energy Transfer Feed-in Tariff (GET FiT).

Combining best practices, the GET FiT program combines a top-up payment on the tariff, a guarantee mechanism and access to debt and equity funding. Through GET FiT, Uganda intends to fast track a handful of small-scale (1MW – 20MW) projects and over the next 5 years, ultimately add around 125 MW of solar energy to the nation’s electricity grid, and direct more than 300 million euro of private capital into renewable energy development.

You can read more about the program, and the collaborative effort in Renewable Energy World’s article, “Uganda Launches Innovative Feed-in Tariff Programme.”
